First Scratch Inc. is a company specialized in engineering, established in 2021 by the engineering division of Dropseed, Inc. The reason for becoming independent was to speed up management decisions to development. In projects such as game development, planning and direction are handled by Dropseed, and the development part is handled by First Scratch, utilizing each other's strengths in a mutually beneficial system.The company name, First Scratch Inc., was inspired by the English phrase 'from scratch', reflecting our desire to build services from scratch and make a mark in history.And at our company, we have a vision of 'datafying everything'. We believe that by datafying, trends and movements of the world can be visualized, and can ultimately be used to advance human development. There are many things in the world that have not yet been datafied, and by datafying these, they can be analyzed and used to contribute to a better society and environment.

Our strength lies in having a small but professional team of engineers. Moreover, we are divided into teams for apps, web systems, and infrastructure, each team consisting of specialists in that field. If we only had app development engineers in-house, we could only work on app development, but since we also have engineers specializing in backend infrastructure, we can set up environments that realize complex mechanisms.One of the features of our company is that we actively adopt new technologies instead of using old ones. For example, there are various PHP frameworks, but we often use Laravel, which is relatively new and stable. Our employees are encouraged to actively learn the latest technologies and trends, and we support their growth by subsidizing the cost of purchasing books, participating in study sessions, and taking qualification exams.Moreover, we focus on creating a comfortable work environment where engineers can work highly productively and fully utilize their abilities. We build teams where engineers can help and teach each other, and that leads to high-quality deliverables and completed projects.
CEO Manabu Yano
From scratch", we aim to create new services from zero and leave a mark in history.
Born in 1987 and raised in Osaka, Yano proudly represents the spirit of a true Kyushu man. He graduated from the Department of Architecture at Waseda University’s School of Creative Science and Engineering, and began his career in April 2012 at a game-focused publishing company. There, he worked on corporate websites, game strategy guides, and publications related to Adobe product plugins. After spending some time as a freelancer, Yano joined the CyberAgent Group in December 2013. As a lead app engineer, he was responsible for a wide range of tasks, including system design, implementation, refactoring, localization, testing of emerging technologies, app store submissions, development management, engineering HR, and sharing technical knowledge across subsidiaries. In 2016, he was appointed CTO of Dropseed Inc., where he worked on market research for the European mobile gaming market, as well as publishing and localization projects. He spent a year stationed in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, before returning to Japan. In February 2021, Yano founded First Scratch Inc., with a vision to build impactful systems from the ground up.
